Time to book your place on the start line!
Upbeat, growing, increasingly competitive, loads of fun with a variety of entertainment at two welcoming full service host marinas, Port Louis Marina and Prickly Bay Marina – these are some of the comments used to describe this sailing week. So if you have not yet registered, now is the time. It is not costly. 31 Dec is the deadline for early registration at just US$90. On line registration is very easy – just click our registration page.
Already registered are boats from the USA, UK, France, Austria, Barbados, Antigua, St Lucia, Trinidad, and Grenada. Five of these are hardy and committed J24’s, who will have their own one design class and own courses for this 2015 edition.
The Board has been liaising with the Class 40 Association to encourage some of the Class 40’s racing to Guadeloupe in the Route Du Rhum and RORC Transatlantic Grenada to take part. Special long courses around Grenada and up to the Sisters off Carriacou and back have been designed for these speed machines. There will also be a shared trophy for Martinique Club du Neptune and Grenada competitors who participate in both the Island Water World Grenada Sailing Week and the Carnival/Round Martinique February 12-15 2014.
In addition to the Racing Class, in 2015 the Racer/Cruiser Class (called Cruising in the previous edition) will also have the option of flying spinnakers and being rated accordingly. The bar has been raised, so sharpen your bag flying skills. For the Classic Class there will be fewer but longer courses with short up wind legs and long off wind legs. The Cruising Class (called Fun Class in the previous edition) will race slightly shorter races than the rest of the fleet, but still have plenty to challenge them.
New for this event is an All Inclusive Party on Saturday night with 5 great bands performing in Virgin Bay and, if you survive it, Sunday Lay Day will give you a chance to observe the workboat antics in the Grenada Sailing Festival racing off Grand Anse beach.
So register today, check out our Where to stay page, book your space on the marina, get your crew on board and make sure you make it to the start line to “Spice it up in Grenada!
